PartsTech is excited to announce that we will judge and present the Autocare Association’s newest content award – The ACES & PIES Content Excellence Award – at the 2018 Automotive Content Professionals Network (ACPN) Knowledge Exchange Conference in Fort Worth, TX.  This award is an opportunity to get an up close and personal look at the content that is circulating amongst the industry’s premier trading partners.

Why is the ACES and PIES Content Excellent Award special?

This is the inaugural year of the ACES and PIES Content Excellence Award – the aftermarket industry’s first objective analysis of the catalog data designed to illustrate how parts suppliers stack up when it comes to ACES & PIES compliance.  The award is intended to recognize those suppliers who regularly create rich, accurate content. Award recipients are “data unicorns” –  sources of excellent catalog data and benchmarks in the industry.

The Selection Process: The First Data-Driven, Objective Content Award

This year, we enjoyed outstanding participation by some of the aftermarket’s top brands. In our capacity as judge, PartsTech reviewed over 3.8M ACES records from 21 participants!  We conducted a rigorous review of a wide variety of data across multiple product groups from suppliers both big and small.

PartsTech generated reporting from the provided files based on each file’s referenced VCDB, PCDB, & QDB tables. This reporting was used to analyze each supplier’s data to determine who has the best content. In order to do this, PartsTech judged the 21 participants on the following criteria.

  • Data is overlap free
  • VCdb-coded configurations are valid
  • PCdb part type-position combinations are valid
  • All parts in the ACES file are present in the PIES file
  • PIES File has rich marketing content
  • Applications are duplicates-free
  • Qdb is in use and all references valid
  • Quantity tag is used on all applications

In addition to the 8 defined criteria, the participants were broken into three categories based on application count.

  • Small (under 10,000 applications)
  • Medium (10,000 – 100,000 applications)
  • Large (over 100,000 applications)

The 2018 ACES and PIES Content Excellence Award will identify and honor those aftermarket companies that have demonstrated the ability to generate rich product content with tight adherence to industry standards.  So make sure to keep an eye out for further updates during the conference to see which companies take home the award.
